(SPOILERS ALERT!)

Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem is getting story DLC, and a recent leak made by renowned insider Dusk Golem suggests that Ada Wong might be returning.

And that is seeming all the more interesting because Leon has a ring now, which at first glance suggests he is married. This small detail at the end of the game has become the center of the conversation online. Who did he marry? Ada? Someone random? Or… did he even marry at all?

Director Koshi Nakanishi stepped in and said there is an answer, just not yet. That is a direct confirmation that Capcom already knows the truth and is choosing to hold it back. And now, with Ada possibly returning, that mystery doesn’t feel accidental anymore.

Nakanishi suggested the ring might not represent marriage at all, but something closer to a vow or a form of resolve. That opens up entirely new possibilities. Maybe Leon is married, maybe he isn’t. Maybe the ring is tied to someone or something. Whatever it is, Capcom surely enjoys watching the community spiral over this.

Will Ada be the answer or the problem?

On its own, Ada Wong returning wouldn’t be surprising. She was bound to return at some point, and she’s always been closely tied to Leon’s story. But in this context, she may have an even bigger impact.

If she’s the answer, then this DLC could finally bring closure to one of the longest-running threads in the series. The relationship between Ada and Leon was bound to come to fruition and was hinted at in the story plenty of times. Millions of fans would like to see this ending happen.

But if she’s not the person behind the ring, then her return will likely introduce conflict between them. A new plot that might push things forward and likely will antagonize the two characters against each other. And honestly, even though that ending is not what we wanted for them, it might push them in interesting directions.

However, in this scenario, Ada is hinted to be the final piece in Leon's puzzle. All the more reason to feel like this was planned long ago. Insiders have even suggested that this DLC was planned before the game’s launch, which would mean these story threads were built in from the beginning and not added later. The vision for these characters was set in stone a while ago.

When Could It Release?

Capcom has already confirmed smaller updates are coming first, but the story DLC is clearly something bigger. Something they’re taking their time with. Resident Evil 4 remake released in March, and its DLC Separate Ways was released in September. I highly anticipate that it will be the same for Requiem’s DLC. It will release in early fall of this year.

This DLC might not be about answering everything. It might just move the story forward—just enough to keep people talking and keep the engagement up until the next major release. From a business perspective, it makes perfect sense. Keep the mystery alive. Control the timing. Build anticipation. And with its massive sales success, they are doing the right thing.
