Sony has officially confirmed that its next State of Play will air on Tuesday, June 2. The broadcast is set to run for more than 60 minutes, which is plenty of time for many games to have their moments in the spotlight. Most importantly, Sony has confirmed that the show will begin with a new look at Marvel’s Wolverine. With its impending release on September 15, this State of Play marks the real beginning of the game’s marketing push.

Wolverine is now the next major PlayStation exclusive on the calendar, so Sony needs to put it front and center. After years of waiting and endless speculation around what Insomniac’s version of Logan will actually feel like, the gameplay and story sequences must deliver.

But what else could Sony be preparing?

One game that feels like a realistic candidate is Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. It has been a while since we last saw it, and Sony usually likes to give players a sense of what is coming after the next big release. But that does not mean a release date is guaranteed. A story teaser, a short gameplay slice, or even a new cinematic is to be expected.

Live-service projects could also make an appearance, with both 4Loop and Fairgame$ fitting that space. 4Loop, the co-op shooter developed in association with Bad Robot, could use State of Play as a chance to finally show what makes it stand out beyond the usual multiplayer pitch. Fairgame$, on the other hand, has been quiet for a long time, and Sony may need to reintroduce it properly after the mixed reputation surrounding its live-service plans. Neither of these games will headline the show, but a gameplay trailer, beta announcement, or release window might come up.

Of course, there are set to be several third-party and partner titles that would fit naturally into this kind of presentation, like Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, Phantom Blade Zero, or Onimusha: Way of the Sword. But whether they will appear or not is anyone’s guess, as there are other big shows on the horizon as well, such as Summer Game Fest and the Xbox Showcase, that could also feature them.

Unfortunately, not every rumored PlayStation project is going to appear. A new God of War reveal would be huge, but it still feels more like wishful thinking than something to confidently expect. The same goes for Horizon 3, inFamous Collection, or the next major Final Fantasy VII update. Any of them would create headlines, but that does not make them likely.

Of course, this is where expectations need to stay under control.

Sony has already confirmed the main attraction. Everything else should be treated as a possibility, not a certainty. And that is where some fans may need to be aware. As insider NateTheHate has suggested, even though we might see other exclusive announcements, expectations for the next State of Play should remain safe. That does not mean the show will be weak, though. It just means that the dream reveals may not come for some.
