It has been more than two years since Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was released, and it’s about time Square Enix revealed the final entry in the remake trilogy.
According to a recent Reddit post, Nate the Hate was asked whether he expects Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 to appear at Summer Game Fest, and his answer was clear: “I expect it will be at SGF.” And with Square Enix’s departure from strict PlayStation exclusivity, Part 3 could have a wider launch than the previous two entries.
Of course, this is not an official confirmation, it’s merely a prediction. But in the past, we know that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was first revealed during Summer Game Fest in 2022, so the event already has some history with this trilogy. On top of that, director Naoki Hamaguchi previously said that preparations for the announcement were steadily underway, which suggests the reveal is not that far away.
As for what we could expect from the final entry, Square Enix has a difficult task ahead. Rebirth opened the world, expanded the combat, and pushed the story into even stranger territory. Part 3 now has to bring everything together while feeling bigger, darker, and more conclusive.
Will they nail the ending?
I believe they will, especially after the great reception of the previous two games. So far, they understood the characters, and even though they played around with Rebirth’s ending, we only got amazing stories and good gameplay from Part 1 and 2. FF7 is ready to conclude in an epic way. I am curious to see what path they take and if they stay true to the original until the very end. We’ll have to see.
