It takes a lot for one to have this extreme level of patience, but after years of silence, delays, and much uncertainty, The Wolf Among Us 2 finally has a release window. Telltale has confirmed that the long-awaited sequel is now planned for 2027. Bigby shall soon return to our screens.
This sequel has felt like one of those games trapped in development limbo. It was once expected much earlier, with the original release window aiming for 2023, but the project went through major changes behind the scenes. But now, thankfully, after a long reset and a new direction, Telltale seems confident enough to bring the series back properly.
We will once again return to Fabletown, following Bigby Wolf in a dark neon-noir mystery. This time, the story appears to involve a criminal underground, corruption, betrayal, and the Oz gang, with characters like the Tin Man, Scarecrow, Dorothy, and the Lion expected to play a role. The new premise also suggests that Bigby may be forced to work from the shadows while trying to protect a city falling apart.
Gameplay also sounds more ambitious than before, with expanded exploration, investigative gameplay, interrogations, cinematic combat, and branching choices with lasting consequences. That last part is especially important, because “choices matter” has always been one of Telltale’s biggest promises, but also one of its biggest challenges. While some games like The Walking Dead had severe consequences for actions, other games in their portfolio had only the illusion of choice that turned out to have little impact on the story. This is a good chance to make The Wolf Among Us 2 feel more meaningful, and it certainly has the potential to become the studio’s strongest game. Yes, I said it (sorry, TWD).
Alongside the sequel, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, which is planned for holiday 2026. This remaster will give the original game a modern facelift, while also adding behind-the-scenes extras and some new features. It’s a smart move nonetheless, especially for players who missed the first game or want to replay it before the sequel arrives. Having the old game at the forefront of marketing is a strategy that works.
And success is what they need.
After so many years of development, the costs of production must be way above what they planned initially. However, I am highly confident they will make it all back and then some, as there is real hype for this game. The original Wolf Among Us remains one of Telltale’s most beloved games, and even though the sequel carries so much pressure, if they deliver, the diamond will shine even brighter.
Now, with a remaster coming in 2026 and The Wolf Among Us 2 set for 2027, the year of the wolf is at hand. This is a major win for gamers.
