If you were waiting for the Resident Evil Requiem DLC to arrive soon, then you might need to temper your expectations.
According to recent claims from Dusk Golem, the Resident Evil Requiem DLC may not arrive until after Resident Evil Veronica releases, which is due in 2027. If true, that means the expansion could be much further away.
Capcom has already shown that Resident Evil Veronica is not being treated like a small side project. The remake appears to be getting a full mainline-style push, and according to recent comments from the development side, Veronica may have story threads that connect directly to Requiem. And this shifts the perspective on how we should look at the DLC.
This would be a very interesting direction from Capcom, unlike how they’ve done it lately with its linear approach. Resident Evil 4 released in March 2023, and its DLC released in September of the same year. So any reasonable fan would assume the same thing would happen in this case, as Capcom would capitalize quickly on Requiem’s momentum, but apparently it might not be so. If Veronica is being built to bridge certain ideas into Requiem, then the DLC would not simply be “extra content.” It could be part of a larger story plan.
Relevant here is also the question of cut content. According to the information circulating around Requiem, Capcom reportedly cut a full chapter, a merchant-like character, weapon customization systems, side content, and even material connected to major characters before launch. If even part of that content is being saved or reworked for DLC, then the expansion could become bigger than a simple side episode.

A Requiem story DLC could finally answer some of the game’s biggest lingering questions. It could explore Leon’s role after the main story, expand Grace’s place in the franchise, and potentially bring Ada Wong back into the spotlight. If the older rumors about Ada or Jill are true, then this DLC could become one of the most important post-launch additions Capcom has made for the series.
But timing is everything.
Resident Evil is in a strong position right now. Capcom does not need to rush. If Requiem was a major success and Veronica is the next big piece of the puzzle, then the company may be spacing things out carefully to keep the franchise alive for years instead of burning through all its content too quickly.
The wait may be longer than we hoped, but if the result is a stronger, more connected story, it might be worth it.
For now, nothing is official. Dusk Golem has been right about Resident Evil before, but leaks are still leaks until we get official confirmation.
