The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake may finally be getting closer to another reveal.
According to the latest rumor from 100% Star Wars, the game is currently planned to be re-revealed this year, although there is also a chance that the announcement could be pushed into early 2027. More precisely, Star Wars Celebration, the popular fan convention, would be the safest place for it, especially if Lucasfilm wants to bring the game back under a bigger Star Wars spotlight.
The first reveal happened all the way back in 2021, and since then the project has been surrounded by silence, reports of development trouble, studio changes, and questions about whether it was still alive at all. This makes for another troubled development that can sit next to Star Wars Eclipse.
An important detail comes from Steve Allison, the new chief business officer at Saber Interactive, who recently mentioned “hopefully KOTOR Remake” when talking about the company’s lineup forming for 2028. That is not an official release date, and the word “hopefully” is doing a lot of work here, but it is still one of the clearest signs in years that the project is not dead.
If anything, it sounds like the remake is finally sitting somewhere on Saber’s long-term roadmap.
A 2028 release would also make sense, even if it is hard to hear. This is not a small remake. This is one of the most beloved Star Wars RPGs ever made, and after everything that happened behind the scenes, rushing it would be a disaster. If Saber really had to rebuild the project after taking it over, then fans may have to accept that this game is still a couple of years away at least.

There is the question of what they can actually show.
A cinematic trailer would be the easiest option. Bring back Revan, show the tone, remind everyone why KOTOR matters, and leave gameplay for later. But after so many years of waiting, fans will probably want more than just another vague teaser. They need proof that the game has a real direction now. Showing even a little gameplay here and there would go a long way.
Still, this is probably the most hopeful KOTOR Remake has sounded in a long time.
The project survived the Aspyr situation. It survived the Embracer chaos. It survived years of silence. And now, with Saber seemingly preparing its future lineup, the remake may finally have a path again.
So can we expect an announcement this year? Maybe.
The Game Awards would make sense if they want a big mainstream stage. Star Wars Celebration in early 2027 would also make sense if they want a safer and more focused Star Wars reveal. Either way, it feels like the remake is no longer completely buried.
